Venue Review: Flat 51 – A Chic Downtown Gem with One Thing You Should Know

If you’re looking for a clean, modern event space that photographs like a dream, Flat 51 is it. We recently had the chance to attend events at both of their locations, and let me just say: there’s a reason people are talking about this place.

Let’s start with the downtown location. From the moment you walk in, the space gives effortless style. It’s bright, open, and beautifully designed without being overdone. It has that “we get it” energy; polished enough to feel luxe, but minimal enough to let your decor shine. It’s the kind of venue that works for literally anything: bridal showers, baby showers, small weddings, networking events, creative shoots… you name it.

That said, let’s talk parking. I’ll be honest: I showed up expecting a dedicated lot and quickly realized that wasn’t part of the experience. And yes, it’s downtown, so I should have anticipated it. But still, I would’ve appreciated a heads-up or some kind of parking instructions when I booked. It’s a small detail, but one that matters when you’re juggling balloons, centerpieces, and coffee (hi, that’s me).

Now for their second location, tucked between German Village and Merion Village. This one’s a bit more low-key, but honestly just as beautiful. The all-white interior is a dream for photos—clean, bright, and insanely versatile. Unlike the downtown spot, this one has plenty of parking, which made setup a breeze... well, almost. The only catch? It’s upstairs. And when you’re hauling a full coffee cart and equipment, let’s just say you’ll feel it in your calves. But once you’re inside, the effort’s totally worth it.

What I love about both spaces is how little you need to bring in to make them feel special. The venues already speak for themselves. Add a few personal touches and you're golden.

Would I still recommend it? Absolutely. The space is gorgeous. It’s incredibly versatile. And for events where aesthetics matter (so, all of them?), it delivers. Just make sure to let your guests know ahead of time about the parking situation downtown or the stairs at the south location- because once you’re inside, you’re going to forget about the hassle entirely.

I’ll definitely be keeping Flat 51 on my radar for future events, and if they keep up the energy they’ve got now, I can see this becoming one of the go-to venues in Columbus.

Parking may be a puzzle piece, and stairs are… stairs. But Flat 51 makes up for it in pure photogenic charm. I’ll be watching this one closely, and if you’re smart, you will too.
